Flagstaff Hill delivers big on leafy living in an undulating environment within easy reach of Adelaide, its southern beaches and McLaren Vale wineries.
Helen and Brian Werner bought their 680sqm slice of paradise almost three years ago and are now reluctantly selling their four-bedroom Longleaf Court home.
“We have retired recently and we’re going to downsize and move closer to family and friends, including our grandchildren,” says Mrs Werner.
“We love it here. It’s so peaceful and quiet and we live in a lovely, tree-lined estate (Flagstaff Pines).
“We’ll miss the feel of it. There are no front fences here and it’s nice and green.
“It’s a little bit of a secret, being tucked away. There are no overhead cables in the street. The first time we drove into the estate, I had a great feeling about it.”
According to property market analysts Core Logic, Flagstaff Hill’s median house price has risen 13.6 per cent in the past three years.
“You’ve got that country feel here, yet you’re not far from anything,” Mrs Werner says. “You’re only about eight minutes away from Westfield Marion and also close to Flinders University and two hospitals.”
She says there are also small clusters of shops nearby at O’Halloran Hill, Old Reynella and Flagstaff Hill.
“We’re within easy reach of the wine estates down south and beaches. It’s only about 15 minutes to Seacliff from here,” Mrs Werner says. “There’s a beautiful park at the end of The Boulevard that’s got a little creek in it and a popular picnic area. It’s a place where you can also walk your dog. We’ve always found everybody here pleasant.”
Sales agent John Muscat of Phil McMahon Real Estate says Flagstaff Hill offers quality homes and value for money.
“It’s chance for people to upgrade and get a newer, bigger home minus the price hike they’ll pay on the plains,” he says.
“And they still have the convenience of being just 20 to 25 minutes from the wineries down south, the beaches and other attractions of the Fleurieu.”
