Tennis greats Sydney home and court for sale

A Sydney tennis court with a water view and a cooling breeze is for sale — a big contrast to the hot conditions at the Australian Open this week.

The championship tennis court with pavilion is on Sydney’s northern beaches in Bayview on 6182sqm of land with wide views of Pittwater and Scotland Island. Number 66 Minkara Rd, Bayview belongs to Malcolm and Glenice Bergmann who have been long time tennis lovers and supporters. Mr Bergmann was awarded with the Order of Australia medal in 2010 for his service to tennis through administrative roles. For many years Mr Bergmann has been the Sydney representative of the Australian Davis Cup Tennis Foundation which organises the national versus nation tennis competition and encourages up and coming young players.

Australia has been competing in the Davis Cup since 1905 and the administrators maintain the Foundation and organise events.

The Bergmanns have held their Bayview home since 1997 buying it for $1.3 million.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home with 180 degree views of Pittwater is now for sale by expressions of interest through Lushwitz Real Estate.

Currently the median house price for Bayview is $1,952,500 based on 57 house sales over the last 12 months.

Agent Josh Lushwitz said the property is an engineering masterpiece, built by a master builder and only the best fixtures and finishes have been used.

Sport-lovers will appreciate the indoor/outdoor heated swimming pool, the games room with full-size billiard area, the gymnasium and the Swedish sauna. To relax there is a home cinema, wine cellar and impressive landscaped gardens.

“This is a world-class property in a world-class location,” Mr Luschwitz said.

Each of the large bedrooms take advantage of the water and bushland views, there is beautiful Western Australian limestone used to great effect and the rooms are all oversized.

There is also a three-car garage with workshop and secure off-street parking for six more vehicles.
