A renovated delight in Melrose Park is proving quite the hit with buyers — it debuted on the market as SA’s second most-viewed home on realestate.com.au last week.
The immaculately-presented four-bedroom home, which goes to auction this month, has been flipped for sale over the past six or so months.
Scroll down to see pictures of how it has transformed from a run-down retro-style property to a light-filled modern family stunner with a brand new floorplan.
It certainly seems to have struck a chord with buyers, coming in second in terms of “clicks” on the property search website to a grand, stately Hills home in Bridgewater. Read more on that one HERE.
Ray White Unley agent Joe Marriott, who is selling the home at 1 Swift Ave, Melrose Park said he was inundated with inquiries as soon as it hit the market last week.
“I reckon I would have had 30 to 40 phone calls and emails and that’s before even going to its first open,” Mr Marriott said.
According to CoreLogic, the property previously sold in August last year for $501,000.
Mr Marriott said the buyers, who are now the vendors, were experienced renovators who understood the local market and set out to create a home that would suit one of Melrose Park’s strongest demographics: families.
“There are a lot of young families moving to Melrose Park, Mr Marriott said.
“It’s a demographic of 30 to 40 year olds that is really starting to come through.
“It’s also 9km from the city, which is always good — and there’s good schools in the area.”
Mr Marriott, who has also sold previous renovations for the vendors, described them as professionals who did “very high quality work”.
“Every single one they’ve ever done has ended up being really, really popular — they don’t skimp on anything,” he said.
“They know what buyers are looking for.”
Previously surrounded by overgrown gardens, with old carpet, a dated kitchen with an old-fashioned oven, and a rambling floorplan, the home has been completely updated and reconfigured.
The floorplan now reflects those found in new builds, with an entrance hall, a wing of bedrooms (the main with an ensuite), open-plan kitchen/living/dining space and a two-car garage.
Particular highlights include the brand new white-toned kitchen with stainless steel Fisher and Paykel appliances.

The open-plan spaces include large windows and downlights, with light toned floating floors creating a sense of natural light and space.
The bedrooms feature plush new carpet, fresh paint and plantation shutters.
The luxurious bathroom is another standout with a soaking tub and an elegant rimless shower screen.
The backyard has also been transformed — overgrown plants have been cleared and replaced with a vast expanse of lush lawn, with a Hills hoist retained as a reminder of the home’s past.
The property is scheduled to go to auction on Saturday, February 16 and is being advertised with a price guide of $625,000.
