Basketballer Ben Madgen is courting a buyer for his Sydney home to move south, after signing with new National Basketball League club South East Melbourne Phoenix.
The former NBL leading scorer will join his footballer brother Jack, who last year made his AFL debut for Collingwood, in Melbourne. Their sister Tess also plays for the Opals and WNBL’s Townsville Fire.
Madgen committed to Phoenix — to join the NBL for the 2019-20 season — after stints at the Sydney Kings and the Crailsheim Merlins in Germany’s Basketball Bundesliga.

The 34-year-old is due to send his slick apartment at 1/40 Cambridge St, Stanmore, in Sydney’s inner west, under the hammer on March 16.
The two-bedroom, ground-floor pad inside a converted Victorian mansion has a $900,000 price guide.
Madgen said he and his wife Bria had loved the property’s position in a “family friendly community”, near the “amazing cafes, restaurants and breweries” of Enmore Rd including their favourite: gourmet cheese restaurant The Stinking Bishops.
They’ve also adored their kitchen, which they designed to “reflect our love of Parisian apartment living, with French doors and chic tiling”.
“It’s the perfect entertaining area, and our favourite spot to unwind on a Sunday, while enjoying our morning coffee in the sun,” the 193cm shooting guard said.
Ray White, Surry Hills & Alexandria, director Ercan Ersan said the apartment’s period details, including high decorative ceilings and stained leadlight windows, mixed with a “modern palette of crisp-white walls and wide oak hardwood floors”.
“Buyers will love the designer kitchen with walk-in pantry, two enormous bedrooms that are discreetly placed on opposite ends of the home — and the icing on the cake is the (main bedroom’s) luxurious spa ensuite,” Mr Ersan said.
The property’s landscaped gardens feature a pool, spa and communal alfresco courtyard.
Meanwhile, NBL executive Wayne Jarred and PR boss wife Chelsea have sold their Malvern East house.
The four-bedroom pad at 357 Waverley Rd is believed to have fetched close to $1.7 million — within its $1.6-$1.76 million advertised range.
The Agency’s Adam Cashmore said the buyer was a local family.
