A Prospect home offers a luxurious low-maintenance lock-up-and-leave lifestyle close to all the attractions of the rapidly-developing cosmopolitan suburb.
Jimmy Zagani built the 61 Marian Place property with Dechellis Homes two years ago, looking to create something he was proud of in a popular fringe suburb.
“I wanted to build something that was modern for the area but would still fit in nicely alongside some of the older character homes on the street,” Mr Zagani says.
“A lot of younger people are drawn to the area and I wanted to build something that would really appeal to that type of buyer.”

Opulent in every way
Mr Zagani says, in designing and building the home, it was important that it not just look beautiful, but be of the highest quality throughout. As such it features 18mm oak flooring, solid timber internal doors, a glass-front gas fireplace, Clipsal Saturn light switches and powerpoints, a ducted vacuum system and remote-control blinds.
“The internals were built with treated pine to prevent white ant damage, and the outside is rendered brick veneer,” Mr Zagani says.
“The finishes are beautiful – we didn’t cut any corners and we wanted to leave something that would stand the test of time.
“It came out really well and I’m really happy with it and proud of it.”
The home has four bedrooms. Three – one with a walk-in robe and two with built-ins – are set on the upper level, near a family room and a bathroom. The master suite sits at the front of the lower level and has a walk-in robe and an ensuite.
Mr Zagani says the home’s layout lends itself to family living.
“It’s a wonderful, cosy home to live in and has been great for our family,” he says. “I’ve had three kids here and it works really well – the three bedrooms and the loungeroom upstairs really is the children’s space, whereas the downstairs living area is more for the adults, so you can each get your separation.”
An open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, on the ground floor, is the heart of the home. The kitchen features Miele appliances, including an integrated fridge and freezer, porcelain benchtops, and 2Pac cabinetry. It opens to a covered alfresco area with an outdoor kitchen.
“The kitchen is great and, with the dining area opening to the outdoor kitchen, it creates a very versatile area that we can really enjoy year-round,” Mr Zagani says.
“It’s been a very social house and has been the site of many gatherings – birthdays, Christmases, we’ve had a lot of parties here. Our family love it and they’ll be very sad to see us sell it.”
Mr Zagani says the home’s low-maintenance front and rear yards make it a great option for those looking for a lock-up-and-leave lifestyle.
“It’s ideal for those who love to travel because it’s all really secure. You just close the gate –you don’t need to worry about it,” he says.
As beautiful as the home is, Mr Zagani says one of its strongest selling points would have to be its location.
“Everything is nearby and it’s just a few minutes walk to the cinema, the shops, and the fruit and veg shop is just around the corner at the end of the street – everything is local,” he says.
Being a builder, Mr Zagani says he is now selling to move on to his next project.
“It’s a great family home and would suit a range of buyers – from families with teenage children, to downsizers, to younger couples looking to get into a fantastic area,” he says. “It has a lot to offer a whole range of people.”
The property is on the market with Klemich Real Estate and has a price guide of $970,000 to $1.065 million.
