Luke Perry’s heartbroken co-stars both past and present are finally coming forward to share tributes to the 52-year-old who died following a massive stroke.
New Zealand-born KJ Apa who plays Perry’s on-screen son, Archie Andrews in the teen drama Riverdale posted a picture of him on Instagram.
“Rest in Love bro,” he wrote under a picture of Perry on a boat.
Perry’s 90210 love interest Tiffani Thiessen also shared a tribute to the actor, saying her made her feel welcome on-set when she replaced Shannen Doherty five years into the series. (A number of Thiessen’s co-stars, including Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth reportedly clashed with the actress).
“My heart has been weighing heavy,” she wrote. “The loss of a man who started as my co-star but quickly became my friend.”
“He welcomed me on my very first day of #90210 with open arms. A day that was not an easy one for me,” the 45-year-old wrote. “I was coming in to a show, a family really, that had been together for over 4 years. But this man took me under his wing and made me feel at home,’ she explained. ‘Made me feel like I belonged in his TV family.”
Her tribute follows that of Jason Priestley, who yesterday spoke out for the first time to honour his friend.
All the rest of the main original cast have now paid tribute to Perry, who was well-liked by seemingly everyone he worked with.
Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge on Riverdale, also broke her silence on Instagram, saying Perry “took care of us all”.
“I will never forget the collective shock and distress we experienced when the news broke on set,” Mendes wrote in her post. “We lost a dear friend. my heart hurts for his family and anybody who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rest in peace, Luke. Although you’re no longer around to wrap me in the warmth of your hug, I can still remember what it felt like. Whenever I think of you, I will remember that feeling.”
