Police say three people have been killed and four people injured in a shooting at a bowling alley in Torrance, California.
The Torrance Police Department says officers responded to calls of “shots fired” at the Gable House Bowl shortly before midnight on Friday.
Multiple victims were found with gunshot wounds inside a gaming venue that offers bowling, laser tag and an arcade.
Police say three men died at the scene. Four male victims were injured. Two of them were transported to a local hospital for unknown injuries and the other two sought out their own medical attention.
The Los Angeles Times reported the shooting took place at Gable House Bowl, in the 22500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, which contains a games complex. That information has not been confirmed by police.
A witness told the newspaper there had been a “big fight” prior to the shooting.
Jesus Perez of San Pedro was inside during the shooting: “We just ran right into the bar and took cover. All we heard was just, like two people got shot.”
Perez said he heard about four gunshots.
Torrance, a coastal city, is located around 32 kilometres southeast of downtown Los Angeles in the South Bay region.
According to health authorities, nearly 40,000 people died in the United States as a result of firearms in 2017 — a figure that includes suicides.
