Logan house renovation memories to last a lifetime

The journey of renovating this Marsden property is one that Grant Palethorpe will take with him.

Over the decade he and his wife Sally owned the 25 Elaroo St home, they undertook many projects.

“We’ve renovated the bathroom, updated the kitchen, painted inside and out, replaced flooring, put extra cabinetry in the laundry and built-in wardrobes in all of the bedrooms and put in a self watering garden system,” Mr Palethorpe said.

“It was done in small pieces over the years, and we tried different layouts in the living area and finally came to the best layout, which is what it is now.”

The house is on a fully fenced corner block, with the entry into the living room at the front.

Three bedrooms are to the right of the home, and are serviced by one bathroom and a separate toilet.

The kitchen has received a recent update, with sleek white cabinetry and a baby blue glass splashback injecting a subtle hint of colour into the room.

There is also a separate laundry.

Outside, on the patio is where the family likes to entertain friends and family, and this is also Mr Palethorpe’s favourite area of the 734sq m property.

“Out in the garden area we like to have friends over and entertain,” he said.

“We watch the kids run around the yard, have a barbecue and roast some marshmallows around the fire pit.”

But the father of four said it was the renovation process he would remember most.

“We’ve definitely enjoyed living there and making it a home. I will remember everything from ripping up the turf, to just slowly and gradually building the home to suit our family needs.”

The Palethorpes raised three children in the home, and are only now upsizing after adding a fourth.
