AN eye-catching house in Herne Hill with Castlemaine rock walls throughout and red cedar timber panelling has sold.

The interesting house at 41 Finchaven St sold to a local family for close to the asking range of $500,000-$515,000.

Maxwell Collins, Geelong agent Shaun Carroll said the Highton buyer was a builder and was planning on doing a complete renovation to the house.

“It is not your average house and the buyer is looking through the house with an architect to see what they can do with it.”

The house is on 688sq m of land and has four bedrooms, two share an ensuite and all have built-in wardrobes.

An open-plan loungeroom and meals area has a bar along with the stone features walls, timber lining and patterned carpet.

There is also a bungalow and workshop at the rear of the property.

The median house price in Herne Hill has increased 16.9 per cent in the past year to $545,000, according to CoreLogic.
