LJ Hooker Avnu is set for further expansion with the news that former McGrath agent Michael Coombs is joining the tech-based real estate agency.
Mr Coombs joins Avnu after a decade with McGrath Mosman where he achieved around $1 billion in sales. His resignation came before Christmas — the same time his former office lost their McGrath franchise deal and subsequently joined Di Jones.

Mr Coombs brings a number of high profile listings with him to including the $17 million Golden Mile home of Surfection founder Chris Athas.
LJ Hooker Avnu launched in July last year as a technology-based full-service agency. Avnu markets itself as allowing agents and their clients to manage their sales and properties in real time through enhanced digital online software.
Clients can access a range of sales data including the number of parties that attend an open home.
Mr Coombs said the tech heavy business very much aligned with his beliefs on the future of real estate.
“I wanted to be part of it. I want to make sure I keep ahead of the market and that I put all my clients in the best position to maximise their sale price,” he said.
The move to LJ Hooker Avnu will allow Mr Coombs more time to sell property.
“Currently my team of five used to spend 120 hours on back-end stuff such as compliance, now I expect that will come down to only 25 hours,” he said.
Currently LJ Hooker has one office in Neutral Bay, but there are plans to expand down the track.
Mr Coombs expects the lower north shore prestige market to continue to boom with strong buyer demand and little stock.
“I’ve got four properties between $14 million and $20 million coming to market and there are a dozen buyers just from our database already interested in them,” he said.
