BUYERS are starting to realise the previously untapped potential of southeast suburb Carina.
This year kicked off with a bang for the suburb, with a sale higher than all but two others in Carina last year.
The house at 6 Sage St sold in January for $1.2 million.
RE/MAX Advantage — Manly agent Todd Gerhardt said about 70 groups inspected the two-level property, and the vendors had received three written offers.
Mr Gerhardt said buyers were recognising value in the suburb.
“You only have to go 300m to Camp Hill, and you would have paid $1.35-1.4 million for the same property,” he said.
“It’s equally as good a location, (Carina) just hasn’t been as developed as Camp Hill has.”
However, Mr Gerhardt said it could be expected that prices in Carina would rise over the coming years.
“A lot of people are knocking houses and building them to live in, so we haven’t seen the sales as much, but we will see a lot more in the next three to five years as these people move on,” he said.
“Carina has been on the rise for a few years now and it is still on the rise.”
