California man that won $242 million in lottery builds himself a mansion on the side of a mountain

Winning the lottery and buying your perfect home is anybody’s dream come true, but just how big can you dream when the winnings top the nine-figure mark?

That was the case for a California construction executive in 2014, who had the winning ticket that brought him a brain-busting AUD $242 million (USD $180 million).

With no hesitation, he immediately worked a deal on a mountaintop property with a mansion that was already under construction.

He enlarged the plans, finished building it and, at the same time, purchased more land totalling over 350 hectares, a buffalo farm, a steakhouse serving his grass-fed buffalo steaks and a Wild West saloon.

Now that the last detail is complete on the elegant chateau-style mansion and the related business operations are thriving, he is in search of another project.

So he’s put his mountaintop estate on the market, for a cool AUD $36.749 million.

Sited on a ridgetop above Oak Glen, California with views from Little San Gorgonio to Mount San Jacinto peaks, looking down over its 350 hectares, it’s like sitting on top of the world.
