Apartments are cream of the crop

Imagine waking up and drawing back the curtains to reveal elevated sights of the CBD before turning to admire your home, packed with the most lavish features that could have it easily mistaken for a hotel suite.

This dream will soon become a reality for less than a handful of buyers, as three of the most luxurious, off-the-plan apartments have hit the market in Sydney.

Designed to span the top level of a 19-storey building in Waterloo, these penthouses will form the pinnacle of what is arguably Crown Group’s most ambitious project.

While there are five buildings that make up the $500 million Mastery development, these homes will be in the tower and have 150 sqm to 171 sqm of internal space, as well as expansive outdoor areas.

“These are the cream of the crop for our products — our penthouses are always sought-after because they are limited and with a Japanese concept these are different,” Crown Group’s Prisca Edwards said.

She said while everything would be automated and designed for easy luxe living, a quirky feature in the bathrooms would set these apart from others.

“We are giving buyers the option to have a hinoki wood bathtub — it is a traditional Japanese onsen bath using the densest wood in the world.

“Normally, wood disintegrates in the water but this one is really unusual because it becomes hardened.

“Because it has a certain smell, it is also beneficial for your health and its natural oil moisturises the skin … so we are going all out with this.”

The three high-end homes will also feature travertine in the kitchens along with Smeg appliances, steam ovens, coffee machines, warming drawers and wine fridges.

Koichi Takada Architects will incorporate floor-to-ceiling windows and the use of timber to complement the look of the tower, designed byJapanese architect Kengo Kuma. It will have a stacked forest appearance as greenery will climb up its exterior.

Sydney-based architect Silvester Fuller has also embarked on the high-end project.

The penthouses are priced between $3.75 million and $4.88 million. Other units in the five-building development start from $630,000.
