Former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke has been spotted greeting real estate agents at the entrance to the Bondi apartment block where he owns, leading to speculation he may be about to put it up for sale.
Mr Clarke bought the upper level three-bedroom, two-bedroom Cadigal apartment, which has extensive views of the sand and surf, in 2009 for $6 million.
It’s the apartment where he lived with former model Lara Bingle before he called off their engagement in 2010.
There were reports at the time that she had flushed the $200,000 engagement ring down the toilet, which Mr Clarke later denied.
The Cadigal block is also where wealthy pub baron Phillip de Angelis owns an apartment. Last week he was sentenced to a year’s home detention in his apartment for bashing his girlfriend, high-profile interior decorator Nellie Tilley. (De Angelis is appealing.)
News Corp photographers hoping to spot de Angelis at the block coincidentally captured Clarke welcoming LJ Hooker supremo Bill Malouf and his son, David, at the stairs.
When contacted, the Maloufs said “no comment” when asked if Mr Clarke was planning to sell.
The 200 sqm apartment is currently advertised as a rental at $3,750 a week with McGrath Coogee agents Giselle Nash-Smith. Ms Nash-Smith said it was available at this point when contacted by the Wentworth Courier.
Clarke and his wife Kyly now live in the Vaucluse home they bought for $8.5 million in 2014.
De Angelis, who was appointed a director to the family’s DHI Hotels Group in 2015, bought his apartment with three “kingsize” bedrooms and two marble bathrooms with heated floors in 2016 for $4.1 million.
