Chicago Police has formally charged Jussie Smollett with felony criminal charges of disorderly conduct and filing a false police report, three weeks after the ‘Empire’ actor claimed he was the victim of a hate crime. Local authorities released a statement saying they are speaking with the 36-year-old’s representatives to negotiate ‘a reasonable surrender’ for his arrest. Smollett claimed he was attacked by two masked men who shouted racial and homophobic epithets at him while he was walking home from a sandwich shop at 2am on January 29th. He also claims the attackers were US President Donald Trump supporters. A bail hearing will be scheduled on Thursday, US time.
