Our living areas have changed over the years from closed-off formal rooms to open-plan spaces.
Now, in the latest floorplan reincarnation, we are seeing studies merged into our living areas, creating a more engaging work environment and making it easier to supervise kids’ internet activity and provide homework support.
At the Caulfield 265 by Burbank, you’ll find a generous-sized study nook forms part of the family room, which shares an open-plan space with the kitchen and meals area.

But the good design ideas don’t stop there.
The rear benchtop in the main kitchen work area extends into the walk-in pantry, making it easier to navigate between the two spaces when cooking.
A large window in the walk-in pantry overlooks the alfresco area and ensures plenty of natural light is received and filtered back through to the kitchen, so the kitchen is all the more inviting.
A mosaic-tile effect on the kitchen’s splashback creates another eye-catching layer of texture and contrast for this already character-rich zone.
“The stunning marble-look (porcelain) kitchen benchtop is also a highlight that commands attention when walking into the space for the first time,” Ms Ellis Welsh said.
Outdoor entertaining is made easy with a large covered alfresco zone.
“Its design is ideal for celebration in the warmer months, but also offers a lovely outlook for times of the year when you’re snuggling in the family room, when it’s too cold to be outdoors,” Ms Ellis Welsh said.
She described the Caulfield as “creatively clever” and it’s easy to see why, particularly with the sensible zoning that allows for two separate living areas and two distinct bedroom wings.
The secondary bedrooms, each with a built-in wardrobe, are located along their own passage, while the main bedroom, with a walk-in wardrobe and a dual-vanity ensuite, is at the front of the house.
The Truganina display features the Nolan facade, one of seven facade choices. Ms Ellis Welsh said it offered “simplistic sophistication in its small details”.
